‘s guides hey guys mackey here with a video talking about how to change your your gamertag on xbox live for free now a couple of months ago. I made video detailing all of the changes that are coming to the gamertag system and i’ll leave a link down below. If you want the long version.
But the basic short version is that the new gamer takes system will support new alphabets that were previously not available and xbox will also be introducing a new suffolk system allowing multiple people to share the same overall gamertag.
But then have suffixes afterwards to make their id unique now i mentioned my opinions on this system in my previous video. But at this point. It’s too late we just have to live with it and this might be familiar to people who use discord for example.
Which has a very similar system nonetheless xbox is trying to get people to update to this new system.
Meaning that there are two ways to change your gamertag and they’ll allow you to do it for free. So. If your gamertag is something like chewing lizard for 736 or if you just have a really old gamertag that you are no longer a fan of i’ll show you the two ways which you can currently change it for free.
However keep in mind you will be transitioning from the old system of gamertag to the new system of gamertag.
So if it’s not unique you may get an id suffix. After your gamertag. Now the first way i’ll show you how to do this is straight on your xbox one console.
You will need a recent version of the xbox live dashboard so make.
Sure you update if you’re running on an older build where you’re going to want to do is click your home button and select your profile on your profile. You should see an option for customized profile and here you can change various aspects of your profile. Including your gamertag.
Which is the big box in the top left click into the screen.
And now write your new gamertag keep in mind that gamer tags used to allow 15 characters. But now only allow 12 which includes spaces and as before gamer tags cannot start with a number once you’ve entered your new gamertag feel free to check availability. If you’re the first person with this unique gamertag.
You will not be given a suffix.
However if others already exist with this gamertag. A suffix will be added and the instructions will show on screen as to what exactly that means or you can watch that other video. I made in order to get more details now a similar thing can be done on your computer.
All you’ll want to do is go to social xbox.
Comm and you’ll be brought to a screen that looks similar to your profile after logging into the website. You can try to change your gamertag here. And as before you’ll be given the availability of that new gamertag and be given a suffix.
If it is not unique and these are the two ways in which you can change your gamertag for free as of november 2009.
Teen. One thing you’ll want to keep in mind as well is that your first change will be free. But after that you will have to pay so make sure you don’t make any typos on your first time through this process.
Now personally i’ve had my gamertag for 13 or 14 years now.
So there’s no chance that i’ll be changing it. But maybe some of you in the comments will be let me know down below. I’m interested to see how many people will actually take advantage of this new game or take system and the ability to change your gamertag for free for the first time in a long time nonetheless.
