Overview of Weapon Stat Card Info, including some stuff that’s not obvious and sometimes omitted.
This is tracy some old guy in hawaii. And this is a video as the the title says on weapon stacked cards. What they tell us and more specifically what sometimes don’t tell us okay.
Some of this stuff is things i’ve touched upon in other videos. But this is the right place to put it all together so i’ll go over them again in more detail. A bunch of this stuff.
I’m going to pretty much ignore. It it’s not really an important self in the name you know what that is the minimum level that you can use the gun at the sale price the rarity okay item score i’m also gonna ignore cuz you should also given the variety of weapons vault hunters and builds items scores mislead more than inform okay iii and doesn’t include in unarmed. It’s if if you don’t what the item does test it out don’t go buy the weapon score weapon type symbols these tend to be obvious.
But when you first start playing the game some gun types can really confuse you okay atlas pistols. And launchers look really weird when you first see them so i’m. Co.
V weapons are kind of weird looking some am a rs look like smg some medicine please look like pistols the graphic clues you in on that just in case okay manufacture clues you in on menus manufacture specific characteristics hyperion shields jacobs create bonuses and ricochets etc okay gonna ignore all that i’m gonna concentrate on the main stats the elemental stats. The tabs which on a separate page especially the parts tabs and the supplemental info down in this area. Here.
Okay. So looking. At the six main stats for these are self evident damage figures equal damage done damage numbers displayed on screen after adjustments okay this vanquisher smg has a list of damage rating of 555 with no skill points.
No gear. Oh guardian ranked no special weapon effects that come into play damage. Is five five five okay magazine size in reload.
Time. The rounds in the magazine is self evident. Often in more than one place on the screen.
You can see how many there are okay reload. Time is measurable. You can time.
It out cov guns have rounds to break and repair time which are similar. But not quite the same as mag size in reload. The tilde symbol.
Which means approximate in front of both stats. Okay with continuous fire. The gun will break and need repair after a certain number of rounds on the listed rounds to break is actually an optimistic estimate that assumes some breaks in continuous fire.
If you hold down the trigger. Without letting up the gun will overheat and break well. Before you hit that number okay.
If you fire in short bursts. Never let the come completely overheat you can fire without break two ammo supplies are exhaust. Okay the repair time on the other hammers is pretty close to accurate so it’s pretty close to what’s gonna be when the gun eventually breaks okay rate of fire is straightforward and like the other three measurable.
We can count the number of shots. We fire per second a couple caveats for multiple firing mode guns the listed rate of fire up applies to one not both modes. Okay obviously.
What everyone is faster and four guns with full auto and burst fire modes that’s not always the full auto. Okay. This is the case with most if not all nighthawk and smgs.
Which is why you normally want a burst fire capable one additionally a burst fire mode rate of fire. Only applies to the burst itself it does not consider the pause between bursts. Which results in is slower than a listed actual rate of fire over time no matter.
How fast you can spam that trigger okay so it’s good to know if you want to do dps calculations accuracy and handling these are the two mystery stats. The percentages that don’t have a clear connection to real in game numbers or experience. We know a higher percentage is better than a lower.
But how much better how do we translate these percentages into usable info. I have a pretty good definition of accuracy of what it entails. But that definition does not allow me to show you qualitatively.
What signal number 78. Actually means i have even less in citing. The handling also there are indications that at least in the case of accuracy you can’t compare weapons of different types you can’t compare pistol accuracy with sniper accuracy this was the case in the original borderlands and maybe the case with bl3 for lens three.
So. How do we use these percentages to make decisions well my advice until we better understand what they mean is don’t unless you are comparing very similar weapons. Variants.
Are the same weapon. Ignore. The numbers test the weapon out draw your own conclusions from direct experience.
Unless you have two guns that are identical in all aspects. Except for accuracy or handling. Don’t rely on those numbers.
The elemental section shows elemental damage per second and percent chance now. This is damage over time per second before adjustments for elements versus target type. And the chance to trigger damage over time for each round that hits damage over time figures are like base damage figures.
You can calculate them you can see them both up on the screen. Do things have no one damage over time. It’s applied in thirds three times per second.
Not in one big portion once a second to the actual numbers vary within a few percentage points. Although they average out to one third of the damage over time listed number. Don’t ask me why ask your box.
Okay the percent chance is rng random number generator of dependent just like drop rates. Okay. When you pull up the inspection.
View. You’ve got four tabs. One.
Which is self element you can look at the gun and 3d and rotate. Then you got three more you have you manufactured slashed challenge tab. I just give you some may be nice to know information on the manufacturer or the gun or whatever.
It’s pr stuff. And any challenges you may or may not have completed for that particular manufacturer. Okay skipping over that elemental tab this shows you elemental effects.
If there are any describes them also gives you a rough indicators. Very rough for what those elements or how the elements perform and versus different target types okay. It also defines the elements damage over time and damage over time duration shock.
Is electrocute incendiary is ignite ok. That’s basically what the damage over time is called for that element. One thing of note two things note actually the duration for shock and corrosion as listed on the cards are incorrect shock.
Is three seconds. Not to corrosion is seven seconds. Not five good to know the part stabs okay.
This list weapon parts any mods. They apply to gun performance and characteristics now that this is a list of what i think is all possible modifies if i miss them let me know most of this info is either already figured into or usually stated somewhere on the one of the card lots of people never look at this tab. If you’re into been maxing and what parts are on the best performing weapon.
This is where you sort that out now. I’m not gonna cover all of these most are self evidence just the ones that are potentially confusing. So that confusion has to do with the inconsistency in how the text communicates.
What’s a good versus a bad modifier and there are three indicators to do this there’s the red versus. The green color. There are plus and minus signs and there are up and down arrows or triangles okay and they’re not always used consistently not to avoid confusion the most important you can do is ignore weapons whether weapons weigh figures into either accuracy under handling.
I’m not sure and it’s confusing and it always uses all of these indicators in a confusing way okay just ignore it if you do that color is the most consistent indicator. Okay green is good red is not okay with that in mind here are some specific comments on specific mods elements of damage mods. These are modifications to the damage per second rating on the front of the card in the elemental section by the same token elemental chance affects the percentage chance to trigger damage over time same place actually bloom applies to weapons whose accuracy decreases with continuous fire some weapons you can easily see this in action.
The unforgiven per pistol has a circular reticle any single round fired will fall somewhere within that circle. If i fire continuously. However a second expanding circle appears and subsequent rounds can fall anywhere within that larger less accurate circle that expanding second circle is accuracy blue okay recoil height.
Many weapons pitch up when you fire them simulating simulating recall effects after which either i need to wait for the gun to settle back down to where you were initially aiming or adjust your aim to compensate. Now the second is often the case with rapid fire weapons. We call with is the same idea but in the horizontal vise vertical plane weapons way.
I said ignore the stat mods fine. But you can see what weapons sway is here. The sight is moving around on its own.
That’s not me. I’m not moving my mouse of controller that’s weapons way okay. He for shot is primarily a cov weapon modifier that affects time to break the faster.
A gun heats up the sooner. It will break some jacobs weapon parts have these mods as well mainly shotguns. I don’t believe this performance.
I think it just applies to the visual. Fact effect. Where some weapon barrels start to glow orange and smoke with continuous fire at least.
That’s what i think. It is okay weapon shield. Capacity and type this applies to hyperion weapons.
That’s how big that shield is and what type of this some just absorb damage. Some and ammo some damage the attacker. Okay so that brings us back to the supplemental information on the front of the car.
And this error can have up to three distinct pieces of information. One is the red text this only appears on legendary or unique weapons. It sometimes refers to the guns name or it’s desi design inspiration sometimes it refers to hidden abilities that you have to figure out.
Although sometimes that ability is stated on the card. Then there’s anointment information that tells what the anointment specifically. Does and if it’s a universal or vault hunter.
Specific item anointment okay the last thing is the performance info in the middle. This is information that summarizes everything in the parts tab. All the modifiers that each part conveys to the gun.
There are two types of information in this area. Okay. One is information that is already figured into the main or elemental stats.
It’s already been added up okay. Then there’s a distal info that it’s not evident within. The main or elemental stats.
Critical info info critical hidden fall zoom level multiple rounds per shot weapon shield in full splash stem. It’s all good stuff to know now. The first time the stuff.
That’s already figured into the display main or elemental stats. This is problematic for three reasons. Number.
One it’s redundant and therefore not really useful to most people it applies to some base figure for that weapon. If you want to know the baseline damage figure for this man maggy subtract 56. Percent from 526 and most people don’t care about that but number two it’s confusing to some people this game is been out six months.
Now. I still run into people who look at this and go oh minus 50 percent damage which percent weapon accuracy. I don’t think i want this they also see the reverse.
I see people decide to hold on to a weapon specifically because i stand in this area size plus 300 damage. So it’s potentially misleading number. Three this entire section down.
Here is limited to nine lines texts not bullets lines. Okay. Sometimes.
There’s more than nine lines of additional info to display when that happens an algorithm determines what gets displayed and what gets dropped now i don’t know the full criteria. But read text info is always displayed and anointment info is always displayed which means that if anything gets dropped. It’s in here and sometimes it’s important stuff.
That’s not accurate is already displayed and it gets lost in favor of redundant information for example. These are the stats for two variants of the same legendary shotgun. And there are both hyperion weapons.
Which means they both have front facing shields and they’re both fear mongers. Which means they both consume two ammo for shot. But you will notice that the one on the right does not show the 2mo per shot consumption and the one on the left does not show the front facing shield information.
Okay this happens a lot more after than you might think and so the general rule of thumb. Until gearbox gets around to fixing this hopefully. They’ll fix it at some point is that any time you have a stat card worth more than say six lines of text.
I would double check. I would take a look at the parts. I take much closer look at what it is you’re you’re dealing with here.
See if you know if you’re missing how many am oldest in use for shot front faces. You’re done for critical hit mods etc. Okay just to be safe so that’s the weapon stack card hopefully you’ll learn something you didn’t already know something that’ll make your enjoyment of the game.
