“Everyone this is dave and welcome to another deck fit with gadgets in this week week s update. I m going to be talking to you about how i ve over the past week. With this the jawbone up three before i show you that device up closer. I want to give you a bit of an insight into it it s super comfortable.
And i ve been really impressed with the battery life so stay tuned for that and then in the latter part of this video. I m also going to be showing you this this is the device. I m going to be using for the next seven days. This is the withings activity pop very kindly sent out to be by argos you can find a link to this product in the video description so however.
I ve been generally getting on over the past week. Well. I ve been doing a lot of work so lots to do based stuff. A lot of work in the editing room.
As well. I ve had a really long video edit to do i ve still managed to take regular breaks. I ve still kept my timothy levels up and you ll sing that when i show you the jawbone up three application on my iphone 6s plus. So let s take a look at that now okay so let s start by talking a little bit about the jawbone up three fitness band itself and for the most part is very very comfortable.
It s got a small display behind here. Which shows you notifications and also when there s a reminder for example this little red led flash. If i double tap you can see it light up. There s also another little led for when it s in sleep mode.
Now you can put it into sleep mode or you can let it do that automatically and then when you move across to looking at your statistics on the app. You have to confirm your sleep. So there s couple of ways of getting it to do sleep tracking the clasp. This is very comfortable.
But it has got a small problem for me might not be a problem for everyone i like to wear the bands of quite loose not very time and you do this by adjusting this little portion here and then after you ve adjusted the size of this you can then sort of a slot. This side portion in it s a little bit tricky to do. But once it s in place. It s so very very comfortable.
What i found is that this loosens even when it s in its closed position. It actually gets looser throughout the day. So end up having to move this and then move this up a little bit. Tighter and then actually really so it s not a deal breaker.
But i still think that even though jawbone have done very well with this type of class..
This is the best one. I ve sort of tested so far it still needs a little bit more work because this underneath portion doesn t grip on as well as i would like it to the actual battery life on this as i mentioned in the intro to this video is absolutely fantastic. I ve been very very impressed with the battery life really good i ve charged it once in the last week. And that was purely to make sure i had enough battery to record this video.
It would have done the whole week. Without a single charge now it has got sensors on the back. You can see here sensors. Two sensors here two of them here.
And then there s another one right on the back of the sins abortion and if you have the band attached to tie to your wrist then this does cause indentations in your skin they soon go. But if you do it too tight. These will as sort of irritate your skin a little bit maybe. But if you loosen off a little bit it really isn t a problem and they still have seen pretty accurate in picking up the data they want to analyze also there s a little magnetic portion here.
Which is where you actually charge the jawbone up three and see some little tiny pins. Here you get supplied this cable. Which is a full size usb cable and then it s got the contact point just here for charging. And this just locates onto the back of the device like so and then once it locks into place.
You ll see the leds on the front turn on and then it s into charging mode. So the actual hardware part. I m really pleased with this is performed very very well okay. So let s take a closer look at the application.
Now it s very well set out. We ve got my activity up the top here for some reason. It didn t track the activity properly on the first day. I was using the jawbone up three then underneath.
You ve got your friends activity and you can see this by scrolling through as to watch even save made so let s skip across to the tuesday. You can see on the tuesday here. We ve got ninety seven percent of my sleep target eve and if we tap onto this it will give you the trend of the sleep now again for some reason it didn t track any of the trends on my sleep pattern with regards to the. Steps i did 4534.
Steps which was fifty six percent of my goal 17. Miles. And then this panel underneath gives me some details about my active time. Which was 26 minutes longest active three minutes longest idle two hours 10 minutes total burn active burn and resting burn right so very good information now at the moment.
You can see lots of spinning wheels and ask for some reason..
Why i m doing this video. The network keeps dropping in and out now. I m not sure if it s the servers at jawbone s end or if it s my internet connection. But certainly at the moment.
I m having some trouble getting these this data to come into the app. But it does update eventually as you ve seen there let s go back one step. We can go across to the wednesday and here again we got activities via our friends. We ve also got some tips that come in as well so we ve got some smart coach.
Tips. Just here these are very useful and then we ve got my sleep pattern here 105 percent and again we re waiting for this graph to update. But we did 25 minutes of deep sleep seven hours 58 minutes of light sleep fell asleep is not available rem sleep 0 minutes awake for nine minutes and woke up 0 times you can see this is now updated this graphs that gives us some color coding as to when we were in an awake state. When we re in rem sleep.
When we re in light sleep or when we were in deep sleep. So we get some good feedback from the graphs or supplied. Let s go across to the thursday again we ve got the little updating symbol here we ve got our tips that come in to this scrollable panel here about maximizing sleep rem history. Etc.
Really good little tips. Because it encourages you as well. We go into our sleep pattern. Here ninety six percent of us sleep targets.
Seven hours and 83 minutes. I think that my sleep target is eight hours for each nine. We did one hours 24 minutes of deep sleep light sleepers five hours 50 minutes rem sleep 28 minutes so it gives us some good feedback and again we re waiting for this this graph just to download. I think the servers are just being a little bit slow at the moment.
Sixty five percent of our target stitch. Which was 5233 on the following day. We ve got ninety seven percent of our sleep and seventy seven percent of our steps. So that was seven hours 48 minutes of sleep and six thousand two hundred and twenty eight steps.
Which is more than acceptable we go across to saturday. We got seven hours 32 minutes of sleep on the previous night and seven thousand seven hundred and sixty seven steps and then on the sunday. We ve got seven hours 55 minutes of sleep and then 4419 steps now one thing i have noticed with the jawbone up three over the past week is that the actual steps the records. It s slightly lower than my previous fitness tracker.
Which was the fitbit charge hr..
I was averaging ran about six to six and a half thousand steps per day with the fitbit charge hr and so this is recording slightly less steps ran about ten to fifteen percent less steps. I don t know if that means. This is more accurate or whether it means that my previous tracker. The fitbit charge hr was more accurate.
But i ve been very pleased with how this has been actually performing. I love the interaction you get with the application and the fact that gives you tips throughout the day. As well so now let s move on and we take a look at the new device. Which is the withings activity pop.
This was very kindly sent out to me by argus again who also sent me the jawbone up 3. I ll leave a link to this product in the video. Description. And if we take a look round on the side it just gives us some indication here about what the apps going to look like visualize.
All your metrics and get live coaching in the health may applica that s interesting of no i do already own a withings product. I own their smart scale. So hopefully this will integrate with that if we look round on the back this tells us what it tracks activity swim sleep alarm no charging over eight months of battery life so this uses a cr2025 button cell. So good battery life another hassle of charging it every week or every few days with some trackers.
We also got bluetooth with automatic sync and then if we just round to the front again you ll see that this actually looks like a regular watch. So this is going to be called very very cool indeed you know alike. My watches so to have something that tracks my activity and also looks like a watch is really good so we ve got this quick start guide in various languages. And it looks like it s very easy to set our simple matter of just a quick start from your smartphone downloading the app and activating the watch very cool very very simple so i ll get that set up over the next hour or so and use this all week before giving you an update next week.
So hopefully this will just pull out there we go so it s just stuck down into the box. There very nicely presented how do we get into here probably in the bottom. No how about we just pull their know so we ve got one of these origami puzzles with this one let me grab my trusty little knife. I m assuming we can get in highly possum.
Here buddy well that was a chore so we finally got it out of the packaging. I probably made a complete hash of that but this really does look like a nice quality device. Let s just remove it off of here. Which is properly watch to one side first of all this has hopefully got some little accessories in it says here.
We got an installation tool enclosed. So we ve got another type active open. There we go and inside here. So this is probably to remove the back possibly to activate it as well.
But this looks like a little sort of prying tool for if we need to take the battery out assuming that the battery s probably installed..
The wrong. Way round citizen here activate your tool using activate your watch using the provided. Tall. The watch will vibrate to signal activation are so this is actually an activation tool.
So we need to turn the watch over and we need to touch this on to this little bit here like so there we go so. It s actually a little push piece here. I thought you re just going to touch on. But that has now made a vibration sound and is now activated.
So we ve got a standard watch here looks very very nice indeed. If i give you a close up of that very very nice. I think it s round about 38 or 39 millimeters. And it s got a standard watch face as you can see the hours and minute hands.
And then the second dial will the sub dial is mark from zero to one hundred percent. So this is going to be zero to a hundred percent of your daily activity goal that s very nice there s no crown as you would see on a traditional watch you would have a crown normally here so that s fine. We have a look around the back you can see we ve got the withings branding. Actually marked on the back of the watch and then a really nice strap as well.
It is made of silicon. So this is a rubber strap. But we can change this we ve got some your quick change tabs. Just here which we can pull on the strap.
And this will release the strap and allow us to fit a standard watch strap. So we could swap this out for a leather watch strap. If we wanted to or even perhaps try metal strap as well who knows. But that looks really nice very nicely made we also got on the buckle here.
