“Guys. My name is samantha. I m 25 years old recently. I decided to help help my old friend.

But it destroyed my family. I think i made the right though because this man could have died without me. I was 24 years old then i had just recently gotten married and i felt wonderful the night. It all started.

I was sitting at home with my husband mike and we were watching tv. I don t even remember the name of that program. But it showed the lives of people in different countries. This episode featured australia and specifically showed the lives of homeless people.

There one of them agreed to give an interview and at that moment. My heart almost jumped out of my chest. My high school boyfriend was on my tv screens of course. He didn t look like i remembered him he had a long beard bruises and was all dirty.

But i definitely recognized him in just a second i died into the memories of my youth. I will change my boyfriend s name so that he can remain anonymous dave and i were almost 17. When we met we just bumped into each other at the supermarket and you could call it love at first sight. I was just in paradise in this relationship.

I remember our first kiss. Very well and the first night. We spent together now it s funny to remember how we hid from our parents and dave snuck into my room through the window. But then our lives changed.

A little we started hanging out with other guys and their influence was not positive at all we ve been to a bunch of different parties. And we ve encountered alcohol over and over that s where our problems started. We just couldn t control ourselves. We would go to a party in just half an hour later.

We would be totally wasted of course..

This could not go unnoticed by our parents. And very soon. Dave told. Me the bad news.

His parents said that i was a bad influence on him and they forbade him to see me at all after these words. I burst into tears like a little girl because i thought that this meant the end of our relationship. However in the next second dave hugged me. And said that he would never leave me no matter what his mom and dad said so we dated in secret.

But it didn t solve the problem of our addiction. Because our lifestyle the same but time passed and we had to prepare for a new stage in our lives. I knew i wanted to be an economist and i had to prepare for college. So i made every effort to stop drinking and spend my time studying.

But dave was weaker and he could not give up this bad habit. Our friends called me so many times to pick dave up from a party. Because he was too drunk and every time. We would argue about it and i d try to persuade him to stop drinking.

But all this was to no avail and one day. He reached a critical point one night. I got another call from our friends. Dave was very sick and needed help and it seems that no one had enough brains to call an ambulance so i quickly took my dad s car and rushed to our friend s house.

I called an ambulance on the way and when i arrived dave was unconscious and being put into the ambulance. He had severe alcohol poisoning of course. I rushed to the hospital about an hour later dave s parents arrived he was alright. But it didn t change anything dave s mom and dad just destroyed me they shouted and insulted me they blame me for what happened.

But i wasn t even at the party and i was trying to persuade him to stop drinking. But it happened and i couldn t change anything unfortunately. I never saw dave again after that night as far as i know his parents took him to some rehab after that in a couple of months later when i was already in college. I got a message from him.

He said that his parents sent him to college on the other side of america and now they had complete control of his life..

They even read his facebook messages. So he couldn t keep communicating. It was very painful and i missed him so much besides. I really feel guilty about what happened in the end.

He had started drinking alcohol. Because of me five years later. I met my husband in my life was completely different and suddenly. I see this ghost from the past on tv.

Imagine how many thoughts simultaneously exploded in my head. What happened to him why did he become homeless. What was he doing in australia. This crazy cocktail kept me awake until the morning.

Obviously if he got into this situation. Everyone in his life had turned away from him. I should have helped him a spend most of the day with my phone in my hand. I called the tv channel that aired this show then called the production team that created it in the end.

I found the person who shot the story about dave and asked him to help i spent a lot of money to pay for a hotel for dave and his flight to america besides. I couldn t convince my husband to let dave stay with us for a couple of weeks until he could find a job because he was so skeptical of these people. And said that there were no former alcoholics if a person falls to the bottom of the bottle. He will never get out so a couple of days later i arrived at the airport to meet a man.

I hadn t seen in almost 8 years and then i saw him and he surprisingly transformed in a couple of days. He shaved off his beard and changed his clothes he looked like the dave. I had remembered since high school. It was only the bags under his eyes.

They gave any indication of his complicated life. We got home and talked until nightfall it turned out that he didn t finish college. He didn t drink and was sober for three years. But then he lost both of his parents in a very short period of time and he snapped.

He drank without interruption for almost a year then one of his dubious friends offered him a job in australia..

But it turned out to be a scam he was robbed and all his money and documents were taken away from him. And he was left completely alone without money in a foreign country. Then he spent more than a year on the streets. He did not even think that after that interview.

He would be able to return to a normal life and i was happy to help him together we started looking for a job for him. So that he could start earning money as soon as possible and could afford to rent an apartment. But we were faced with many challenges dave didn t have any work experience. He was a former alcoholic and most importantly.

He didn t even graduate from college. So the job search dragged on for weeks time after time he went to interviews. But was turned down over and over it was hard for dave to go through these difficulties. Plus.

My husband started to add fuel to the fire. He was tired of the fact that some friend from the past lived in our house. But i think it was thing else mike was jealous he knew that dave was my first love and he couldn t stand that we were so close. But at one point.

I began to suspect something bad myself the fact is that something started to disappear in our house. My old cellphone. Which was in the juror was missing and then i discovered that my silver bracelet was missing from my jewelry box at first. I thought it was my lack of focus.

But mike made a reasonable assumption dave was having a really hard time finding a job and he could start drinking again and he was stealing our stuff to buy alcohol at first. I didn t want to believe it. But one night. I found out that it turned out to be true.

I drove home from work and i saw a big fight right outside our house. My husband was yelling at dave and throwing his stuff out of the house. He was furious it turned out that mike decided to test his theory and snuck into dave s room. He looked under the bed and found a pile of alcohol bottles.

The case was closed and dave turned out to be a thief there were no other options dave had to leave i felt broken and used and there was something else that was added to this disturbing moment in the evening..

I got a call from the hospital and they said that dave had problems and he left my number as a contact to be honest. I didn t want to go to the hospital after all he had betrayed my trust. But i felt guilty that dave had problems with alcohol in the first place so i gathered my strength and decided to do one last favor for him on the way to the hospital. I already imagined what i would see there dave would be unconscious due to alcohol poisoning.

But the doctors destroyed my expectations. Dave had a nervous breakdown and when the doctors brought out his tests it turns out that he was absolutely clean. When dave woke up he was happy to see me. And he tried to explain everything he didn t steal anything from us.

And he was just set up there was only one person who wanted to do this and that was my husband it seems that his jealousy has crossed all boundaries. When i got home we immediately started fighting he accused me of helping dave just because i still loved him and that left me baffled. I realized that maybe it was true i not only felt guilty that dave had become an alcoholic because of me. But there was something else some shadow of my old love for him and that s what i told my husband he was terribly angry after that i ended up packing my things and leaving i couldn t live with a man who was so jealous and evil and now i just didn t know what to do and suddenly dave offered to help he found out that there was a constant need for english teachers in china.

And more importantly. You didn t need to have a special education or work experience. And dave asked me to go with him it was a difficult decision. I had a job in friends in america and i didn t want to leave them.

But on the other side was dave. He offered to start a new life with me. And you know what i agreed they ve always got into trouble. Because no one wanted to help him perhaps i can endure suffering and make him happy.

I divorced. My husband and moved to china there are still a lot of challenges ahead. But i m not alone. I m with dave and who knows maybe our relationship will grow into something more and we will become a couple again just like we were eight years ago.
