This company called public wireless now they ve been out for some time now probably over over a half a decade maybe further than that. But yeah they they are another wireless service that you can t find in public places. Locations retail stores. Things like that so you have to order order their service online.
And it only works with compatible devices. Mainly fully unlock devices that run on gsm or seen ema such as samsung lg motorola smartphones in that sort like that i m not sure if they got iphones on the list but mainly android devices and yes so basically they use wi fi cellular similar to google project by text now and freedompop all those you know services ai. N t no free up mobile that technically kind of kind of what you depend on wi fi instead of just cellular coverage. Because not everywhere is going to be covered.
Which is understandable. Oh so yeah they based on wi fi and cellular on usage for calls and texts and things in that sort like that so no further ado let me go ahead and now just show you what you get inside with the sim card now i got this in the mail. Yesterday and it comes in a simple package looking like this right so you get the hello. And you get the welcome welcome to the republic wireless.
Inquire instruction guide let s get started. And it gets you a semi checker tool. So just cuz you lose yours they always give you another one alright. So they basically telling you this is your to guide and things and sort so it s a real long roll out kind of i kind of like mit mobile s better.
It was a little more simplicity in this one. But it s a real..
It s a real long roll out and basically they re just giving you step by step on how you going to set up this wireless of service and you just take that sim card out which i already have inside my moto g. Five. Plus you take some card out you get started you find. Which sim card size you need and then you go you go on from there.
And you just insert the sim card. And then once you insert the sim card you re going to need to download the republic wireless application. Which i have on my home screen. It s the one next to let me see if i can get this to focus okay just come right.
It s not focusing. But okay there we go it says republic and basically you open it up and you set it up and you just follow the on screen instructions. And it ll tell you step by step how to set this service up now um. What i did notice about about the service is and for the new promotion that you have to basically prepay alright.
So you have to pay for your first month service first. Okay. Before you can get that two months free unfortunately they did not have that in the fine print. I even checked the website.
It was not in the fine print for the special offer that you had to pay upfront for your first month service and then once you park over the phone. Number then the next month. The next two months would be free so your first month. It s the the minimum twenty dollars plus tax.
Which is like for me it was like 24 85. So it s 24 85 cents..
I had to pay in order to even get this up and running and set it up. But now i did pour it over a phone number. I was having shoes with my friend pot number. So i just comes to that and so my google voice number.
It did pour it over it so it does work with google voice. I also seen. I believe i also seen text now and text plus available and also all the the major carriers of you can t pour it over your t mobile at t sprint boost virgin you can you can put over any of those in the metro. You can put it over any of those numbers as long as you re you know that that number and service is in good standings.
So that was the real major downside of setting this all up that you do have to pay upfront oh for the first month service alright. But once once you get that all set up is good. It s good to go and you up and running now the network. I discovered i was on here s the t mobile network basically so you know i open up speed test out and it s on the t mobile network.
Also another way you can find out is going through your coverage on the speed speed test out okay. And you read this down arrows and i ll show you my carrier team oh. Now that s the thing that they do not show you exactly what network. You re on they re just this show republic and lte and then when you go into the network settings.
It still shows republic okay still social republic. And you ve got an access point. And it s there so as republic wholesale so it doesn t necessarily show t mobile or sprint. But those are the two networks that they use just depending on your location and your area alright.
So yes um so far so good let s see let s let s just trust being sense real quick like i said i got the basic. I got the basic package and that s technically how you would get the other two months for free just just signing up using the basic package for 20 unlimited talk and text and one gigabyte..
The data so we re gonna go ahead and you just want to speed test real quick. Let s see what this looks like okay here we go now once again it may vary you know it may vary per location. It may vary per area. So you just have to keep that in mind.
Okay okay. So eight megabytes down on this side okay. So. Five five and just that s because i m in the kitchen and also this is a low budget smartphone.
So you probably you re not going to get the maximum speeds on a low budget mid range smartphone anyway so it just depends on the the phone you get like i said they do have other unlocked smartphones. If you want to buy yours personally from the website or you can t you can um. You know go to best buy walmart which what else stores that sell unlock devices using cdma and gsm and like i said this just one already he had the the application republic wireless pre installed. I m not sure why it was automatically pre installed even though i got this from best buy great.
Oh. That s besides the point. But like yeah guys let me know what you think about this whole setup also the application will notify you if you using cell devil or wi fi. So so that the app.
Will actually help you connect to wi fi or he ll let you know how you re connected to sell your network you want to turn on wi fi and then you just turn on your wi fi and then go change to say you re connected to wi fi. So yeah. You do get wi fi calling with the service. Just keep that in mind.
But you re you gotta activate it um. I forgot that show you guys there you got to activate it through the settings..
So you have to go to settings and make sure. It is turned on and things in that source. Yeah. Vance says.
It s there we go so yeah. Just make sure this the handover wi fi is you know not it stuff. So you can hand over calls on wi fi or you can choose it manually. You can tell it to have when i make calls over wi fi or i want to make calls and sell your service.
