And i love you too because i feel like theres genuine support from her she wanted me to talk about colorism and i briefly spoken about colorism within my black fishing video. Which surprisingly has a lot of views. I thank you but this time around she wants me to talk about colorism in a completely different way.
If you are like raisa. And you hear what i say and feel like wow. Okay her words kind of empower me or damn she gives really good advice email.
Me at fiona i am i bow gladly make it either a video or just respond to you one on one. Yeah. Let me get into my.
Handy dandy notebook and let me go to the email. I will be reading this email verbatim. Because she wants me to speak about colorism from a perspective that i have no relation like i cannot relate so i think it would be wrong of me to speak as it speak on it as if i can so i am literally think of me as the vessel just relating razors message raisa would like other people to know that colorism also affects light skinned women negatively time and time again we always think of colorism from the perspective of people of a latter hue.
Having privilege. Which is the fact we know that or you know or people of darker hues being very disadvantaged or being bullied and being picked on rarely do we ever associate colorism with negativity being brought against a person of a lighter hue. So here is razer story.
If you can relate to this story or if you know someone who relates to this story. Please share. This message a lot of black women look over light skinned issues because they feel like because men desire light skinned or mixed women still isnt a problem for one a lot of light skinned people have to prove their blackness.
My father was very very very dark cousin is very very dark and my mother was very i thought she was a white woman. So thats a problem right there my mom was like i did tease her. I was like you white and im gonna get some dna on you cuz youre lying.
But now that were talking about it maybe that is the thing. Im trying to be too black sometimes some odd reason nobody believes me that you cant be light skinned without being mixed.
They think the huge continent of africa is just all dark skinned people with 4c here. So youve had this conversational. Your parents about what about having a strike against you.
This is what youre saying yeah. When my parents definitely said. Its gonna be harder for you in this country.
Although youre mixed. Although youre lighter. Which will be a certain privilege.
The other fact that you have african blood in you is gonna make it hard. And thats definitely not the case. Ive seen light skinned girls get jumped by dark skinned girls.
Because she didnt look like them they literally jumped the girl yes dark skinned women are oppressed. But so are light skins. I heard of dark women being bullied and called names.
But ive never heard of physical actions being took out on them um girl let me say right here has been it happened to a girl cut the front of my hair off because she didnt like the color of my skin. I have friends that literally been beat the hell up five dark skinned women because they didnt like her skin color light skinned issues are always looked over because men desire us first of all to be desired isnt a good feeling a lot of men get with light skinned women just to say hes with a light skinned woman aka or hypertrophy. She has another point there a lot of people like to say light skinned privilege now i do think it exists.
But to a certain extent and i think its being desired by men or being able to get certain roles in media etc. But if you dont fit in the perfect light canario types youre not gonna get gigs easily. And if you dont fit in the perfect light skinned woman with the big butt the loose long hair the green eyes etc.
Then men arent gonna desire you either. She has a point there like i said yes dark skinned women go through hell.
And im not trying to compare the struggles. But i dont think its fair that they can talk about their hurt and pain. But when a light skinned girl talks about theirs theyre seeking attention.
Damn everyone thinks its greener on the other side a light skinned man was just lynched in in indiana. So obviously being light skinned doesnt get you so far dark skinned women get hell. But so do light skinned women and if we just take the men out of the equation for a second.
We are still both oppressed in society. Im tired of everyone bringing up men well guys like a light skinned okay. And ive had people pharrell fight me over a dude.
Id even know existed. I dont care about the dude. I dont im not trying to sound like an attention seeking light its like skin.
But it is a problem in the dark skinned community and it is a problem in the lesbian community light skinned women ignored our skin problems and dark skinned women ignore light skinned problems. But at the end of the day. It is an issue and in in order to fix it we have to acknowledge that it is an issue white people looking at us crazy cuz.
They for real dont know dont care. Shes got a point there too i think that you know when it comes to complexions and and even differentiating. You know whos black enough or whos in i just been bombarded with people telling me that i wasnt black and you know as a compliment and i went to my dad and i was like dad am.
I not black enough and i just remembered he started to cry. There is no difference. There has just been a difference made so we can feel like theres a difference.
If you can watch this video and still have a problem or still it or you still sit there at home like because she light skinned with green eyes that she gonna pull this man whos to say thats what she thought ive heard people say that you know i feel ive heard people you know associate emotions and crying with you know thats that light skinned food for thought thats all im gonna say in this video. Im gonna leave you with two questions you can comment down below do you agree with razor while yes theres light skinned privilege. Theres also also light skinned disadvantage and are you guilty of associating a behavior with complexion comment down below.
Im glad im brown skinned. Ill get pitt against anybody im just saying thank you for watching as a glow gather remember that people will try to dim your light because you glow different ill see you in the next one .
