Today, bluevelvetrestaurant.com would like to introduce to you How to fully check your tv power supply on a dead television set. Following along are instructions in the video below:
Here we have a 40 inch sony and the tv is totally there dead there theres no power this should be a headlight. I read like at the bottom corner. When the tv is plugged in and it should turn to green.
Once you hit the power button. And then the pictures. The pictures should come in but as you can see it is absolutely dead.
Theres no standby light nothing so lets take this baby apart and find out whats causing that problem music okay just to verify the model number of this tv this is uh once against a 40 inch lcd tv k dl 40 b as in boy xs and x rayed for 21 as you can see the tv was may infection in 2011. Its on the tv. Very nice stuff and as normal just check the back color.
Im sorry at the bottom tv stand on first four screws dont forget the rest to remove the rest of the screws and also the screws by the input jacks. Now well take a basic look and our tv. Here.
We have a main board to our right top. Is our t con board. All time.
The control board to our far. Left. Is our inverter board under that black plastic and right.
There is our power supply board pretty much in the middle. There basically how this works as usual. We have to get a power on command from our main board.
Well hit the power supply button. So usually on a dead tv set. Which has no standby light nothing no clicks.
Nothing and wanna go straight to where is to standby. Which is located on that plug on from the power supply to main board. And hopefully.
It is marked and as you can see on the bottom on the white plug the very bottom that does say stby that means standby. Standby. 33.
Volts okay so that voltage is ready and waiting it is in standby thats what it means okay as soon as you plug the tv sitting in and then our green wire is iac off detector. Thats what that means and then our orange wire is a power on that is the signal coming from the main board to turn the rest of the power supply on that is needed music and id get that disconnected for troubleshooting purposes. Youll see why in a minute.
Im going to twist that back together start from scratch like i said our standby voltage. Is the bottom pan with the white wire music music just like i said. Ill check my standby voltage first in the dead set.
Because if its not there is a good chance do you have any bad power supply put our meter on dc volts. Im running my negative lead on the chassis put positive on de and as you can see just like he was labeled 33 volt standby. Im going to go to our next wire.
The green wire in the ac detect or ac off the tech. Theres absolutely nothing there okay. Remember i do have the tv plugged in okay.
And the one that says power on off that should change go up when we hit our power supply button. Im sorry when we hit our power button. Because that is whats going to power that voltages was going to power off the rest of the power supply.
And it is coming from the main board. Via the power button right or the power button be the main board of course that its not changing just kind of i just try to give you a better view there. I do have my lead on power on the orange wire.
And like i said ill hit the power button. And i just want to see whats gonna change at all it does not change or jump or anything i am hitting the power button okay. I think we should get the picture.
Now okay and also another one thats important is our this is our 12 volt line just showing that rail wire. There. And that should that should be activated will come up after the power on voltage comes up and im just going to disconnect the power on line and just go right there.
And see if i get anything make sure the power supply is not pulling that down music. And yeah. Theres nothing there so just a little millivolts coming from my body that my finger.
So this is how i wanna check my power supply board just to make sure that its not working or if it is working im actually going to jump the standby. Voltage which is ive known 33 volts to our power on wire and which normally uses the power on voltage is normally about you know standby voltage or less so then i want to put my positive lead on the 12 volts and see if that comes up okay. Okay.
I did ground my my negative lead onto the ground plate on the cold. Side. Okay i still got my 33.
Volts. Get my teeth get my bore plug. And dont have any ac detect votes and music music and im going to actually see if i can trick power supply into coming on or force it on that trinket.
But actually force it on you should come on some. Ill put my positive lead on the 12 volt mine. If i can find the hole.
Right. I guess. Im trying to give a good view for the camera.
I want to stick that cut paro online. Okay i shouldnt see i just got that i just got to the plug on there because its easier for me to test it its nothing that its not gonna make it to anything. But i can get here okay.
I guess right now i am shuffling across it let me see if i can give you guys a better view music there we go music okay. Im gonna stick it in on standby and as you see the 12 old lines of rail wire is not coming up. So that is a good sign that we have a bad power supply.
And i have another one just to show you okay. This is our new power supply wanna plug it in check my standby. The white wire.
Its still good okay making sure the profs apply is good. So thats still there and i want to check the acd tech line and look at this three point two volts. Okay remember on the other board.
We did not have any ac detect. We just had standby so thats a good sign and i want to do the same thing. I want to force the power supply on i want to stick my positive lead into the 12 volt line.
It does say. 12 volt. Au.
Or something like that and im going to stick my power on wire. As you can see while i it came up 12 volts. Well do that again if i can hold it steady music.
There it is okay. 12 volts. So that lets me know that our other power supply was not good okay.
It was bad and this one should work music. Okay. We got that new board in there dc boats again ronson jessie positive wire.
I want standby which we should have three point two volts or three point three back to iac to tech line second wire to point. 7 volts that is good okay. So that was a good sign that we need that would need that and standby and applause.
I want to go to the power online. Which is zero once i hit the power button as you can see it jumps up to 32. And we should have two there we go we have backlights okay.
So that is our power. One voltage coming from the main board and i checked my twelve volts and there it is just checking a few other voltages up top music and actually i put my wheres the power online well cut of that which is gonna show you just how that works. Im going to turn the power off sugar go down to zero okay and then im going to turn it back on to the foodies lights off here so you can see the back glass come on okay.
So now im going to hit the power button. And it jumps up to three point two volts and we should get back lights. Thats it we should be all set all right as you can see we have our rest and my life.
The tvs plugged in im going to hit the power button and the light turns to green and we should be getting there we go were getting the picture. Okay guys look what looks like we are in good shape. Appreciate you guys for watching thanks for subscribing.
