“It s mr. Giles and i m gonna be doing a quick paint on that that tutorial how to add an outline text or a shadow text in paintnet photoshop always had a great tool for this it was very easy to do paintnet. It s not built in but it s really pretty simple to do i got my tutorial idea from this tutorial by alien. 26.
Full so thank you very much alien. 26. Full for helping me figure this out because i had not seen a way to do this so well alright let s get started first. I m just gonna start with a new document.
I m just gonna say okay i m gonna create a new layer always i find that always creating new layers gives me a lot more control over my final product. So i suggest doing that my shortcut key is control shift n..
Or you click this blue green plus sign on the paper here. Control shift n. I have a new layer and i m going to click on the text tool and i m gonna pick a tip this works better with a thicker font so i m gonna choose a thick font and i m going to type a shadow tutorial. I m gonna make it all caps okay like that okay and so my first text.
I m gonna change the color of this to be the color that i want to be my main color. So let s let s go with the green color and then i m going to duplicate the layer so i m gonna hit duplicate you re gonna see that there s an identical layer and if i turn one off there s another one right there. And if i turn that one off there s that one okay so i have two layers of this the same thing. So now i m gonna fill in this layer with black because black is going to be my shadow color so i m gonna get my paint bucket tool or the f is the shortcut key for that and i have black selected oops.
I was on my background layer let s go on the right layer. I m gonna go on this top layer..
I m gonna fill that in i changed my tolerance to 60. So it s a little bit stronger. So if for some reason. Yours isn t filling in and wherever.
The plus sign is that little plus. That s where the pixel is going to start painting that full color associate is the edge there i m gonna make sure i m clearly in the middle. This is where if you had a skinnier font. It might be harder to do you can always zoom in so you can get in closer so you can really see what you re doing okay so now i ve got my layer.
I m gonna drag it underneath you can see there s a tiny bit of an outline i m gonna zoom in a little bit here you can see it sort of like there s an outline there. But it doesn t have that like clear outline look so here s the first suggestion go to effects blurs..
Gauzy and blur and it just sort of blurs. It just a little bit and you can go really extreme and get a nice kind of shadow like that i m gonna just go a little bit stronger like this okay. I m gonna say okay so i just did it to nine you can do it to whatever it looks cool to you and then we re gonna duplicate this layer over and over again oop control z accidentally clicked on the screen now i m gonna go to layer two and i m gonna select my duplicate layer and i m gonna just one two three four five six seven. I m gonna go until i got a nice look at that nice dark shadow looks awesome.
It s an outline if i want it to be more of a shadow. I can adjust it and i ll show you how to do that and then the next the last thing. I m gonna do just to clean this up is i m gonna use this other button. There s two there s duplicate layer and then there s merge layer down.
Which is gonna take this layer. And it s gonna melt it into the other layer so it s combined so i m gonna just melt all those i m just gonna keep going there oh i don t want to put it on though i don t want it on the white background..
I actually want control of this layer and then i can use the blue arrow. If i want and by the way that looks awesome and i m loving it already it looks so much better than any way. I ve done it before and then you can move it if you want to give it that sort of you know 3d text thing you want to move it so it s off center. But i really like the outline look so i m gonna leave that but you can turn it off look at that bottom and that s what it looks like without the top part and that s what it looks like with the top part so there you go shadow or 3d text or outline you got all those basic concepts just by doing a repetition of a layer basically just duplicating the layer alright.
I hope that helps have a great ” ..
