“Lazy creo world of warcraft does again people either love or hate and whatever your your opinion is hard to argue that well hasn t made a huge impact to gaming industry and other mmorpgs going forward over the next two videos. We re going to talk about the top ten reasons. Why people love and hate world of warcraft. If you ve got any suggestions or thoughts on the matter leave it in a comment below.
And it could be featured in the next video numbered certain system requirements now compared to love other mmorpg s. The system requirements to play world of warcraft is actually pretty low for years. I myself managed to play the game on a cheap potato laptop with fairly decent frame rate on the lowest settings. However other games such as guild wars 2 were totally unplayable even with everything turns down.
So one reason. I think people love world of warcraft is that it s one of the few mmorpgs you can actually play without having amidst a high end gaming rig. There s not an incredibly high barrier to entry due to the system requirements. Which has been an important factor in the game s success as the majority of players can t afford gaming pcs.
As the game. Has been developed and updated over the years. The system requirements to play well have gone up. However it s still really low compared to other games in the genre.
Number 9 music out of all the games. I ve played world of warcraft has one of the most well composed and beautiful soundtracks. I ve ever had the pleasure to listen see everything down from zone ambience to boss. Encounter music.
Helped set the mood and add an extra level of immersion to the game. Whenever i ve come back so after taking a long break. I ve always hit with an overwhelming feeling of nostalgia as soon as i hear the l word forest soundtrack. Which is one of my favorite musical pieces in the game other nostalgic pieces.
Include the song of a loon moon full legacy teldrassil and war. You can download the entire warcraft franchise soundtrack from warcraft free all the way to wallets a channel on itunes for 10 per album or 099. Per track. There s some great songs in there to fall asleep to number 8 scale.
Something i remember being amazed with when i first started playing well back in 2007 was the sheer size of the world as a new player. I couldn t wait to go out there and start exploring even better was the fact that you didn t have to sit for a loading screen whenever you change zone. Which was something i was used to from other games back then even today the size of world of warcraft is still really impressive and as a new player you have so many zones to explore and things to see if you just startin out with the massive scale of the world comes. Thousands of quests and hundreds of achievements that would take months even years to see and complete other than that playing in a world.
With so many players running around just feels cool. And it s the main reason..
I love mmorpgs in general. I would however argue that the scale of massively multiplayer aspect of the game. It does feel slightly diminished since introduction of garrison s and 40 man raiding being removed in bc number seven art style. Now when talking about our work in graphics is a rather subjective topic.
However world of warcraft has its own unique art style that seems to be popular with the majority of people they ve struck the right balance between being realistic and cartoony. Which doesn t only work well in keeping the system requirements low. But it s an art style. That s instantly recognizable as world of warcraft for me the wow.
Graphics and art style aren t too cartoony to the point. Where you can t take the game seriously. But they aren t too realistic to the point where the game feels overly serious. It s a balance that i and many others really like throughout the game s various expansions.
The artwork concerns have consistently improved always feeling new and exciting when you see them for the first time. There. s also a lot of visual diversity especially in the recent expansion warlords of draenor which has zones featuring forests snow covered mountains towering spires moonlit fields and canyons which does keep the leveling experience exciting when doing its the first time number 6 role playing one of the main reasons. The people love world of warcraft and mmos in general is that it allows you to be a part of a fantasy world with thousands of other players.
It s an escape from reality and the great way to forget about your real life problems in the outside world. I m a simple geologist. But in here. I am falcon defender of the alliance.
I braved the fargo deepmind defeated. The blood fish at jared s landing hmm looks like that guy just killed you other than that there s a massive amount of people to play well just to roleplay this basically involves you making a character inventing. A fictional backstory and interacting with players with that backstory in my to progress your character s story forward rp isn t something i m greatly into myself. But i know a few people that spend all that well time role playing and couldn t care.
Less about progressing their character through raiding or pvp throughout the years. There s been some huge rp events in well such as in game. Weddings. Organized horde.
Versa lights law battles funerals and multi guild. Meetups as someone that used to plan an rp server. I got to see a few of these events and despite me not participating it looked like a lot of fun for those people involved number 5 law for an mmorpg law is a really important thing to consider as it gives the player a reason to care about the world. They re playing in world of warcraft is one of the most law rich games.
I can think of with this story being developed and progressed over the past 20 years since the release of the warcraft orcs and humans rts in the mid 90s. A big reason for the success of wow..
Is the fact that it was an mmorpg released with pre existing law that many people were already familiar with through books. And the hugely popular warcraft free rts other mmos really struggle when it comes to law especially if it s a game that s not based on a pre existing franchise. It can leave the player feeling overwhelmed and confused as to their role in the world. Which is something i ve experienced myself when trying out other mmos.
Something that many people love about well is the even after logging in for the first time with no knowledge about the game s story you can still relate or be somewhat familiar with the games races as they re based on pre existing archetypes such as orcs trolls elves and undead. Which have been around in stories. Long. Before the release of wow for the real law nerds out there you ve got a huge back catalog of story to go for if you really want to know everything about the game and a big reason.
Many people re subscribe two hours just to see how the story s progressed since the last time they ve played number 4 community. Another big reason that people still continue to play. Well. Despite the fact is over 10 years old.
It s simply because of the friends they ve made in game or the community. They re a part of this is a reason that i ve stuck around for so long even in times. Where i ve actually been bored of the content being a part of an active guild in wow. Makes the game.
A hell of a lot more fun as you can just hang out with a bunch of people that have similar interests to you the while community is a whole are extremely passionate ok greatly for the future of the game. Because of all the time. We ve invested into playing it over the past years in terms of our contents. Lacking or there s something that s widely disliked.
We re not afraid to tell blizzard. How we feel will run rage make videos and even tweet. The developers because ultimately most of us just want to see the game succeed as we re all heavily invested into being a part of the warcraft universe. A good example of the community coming together to make a difference was during this expansion.
When blizzard announced. There d be no flying at all in runnel. So many people express their opinion and argued for it to be added back into the game. The developers eventually decided to make a compromise and add it back into the game in 62.
Overall. The well community are an interesting bunch as of any group of people there s always a few our souls. But there s also some really kind helpful and crazy individuals that i ve had the pleasure of meeting myself as a whole. I think the world community are generally pretty good of course.
There s some toxicity in places. But that s present with every online game number..
3 pvp now this is the reason. I m still logging in to play. Well every day. I absolutely love wow pvp there s so much depth and things you need to learn to become a good player.
It s not something you re going to get good out overnight and if you want to get to a high rating. You re going to need to spend time practice and find other players on your level to play with despite me enjoying pvp. It s actually a part of the game that needs some serious work currently there s a lot of issues when it comes to balance and the pvp community get next to no new content in comparison to the pve community. Something i ve found is that people even love pvp or absolutely hates.
It as a new player you ll find that it has quite a steep learning curve. And there s a hell of a lot you can do to improve as a player which i personally like for me the real fun in pvp comes from playing with friends evarin. Competitive arena or just messing around casually in battlegrounds. I love how to sweat they re only being a few bee gees and arenas each game feels totally different based on what comp you re playing or the choices.
The opposition team mates. It s dynamic content that can be played over and over again and still feel fun. Which is why i and many others love well pvp number two raiding raiding is one of the main reasons people play world of warcraft and over the years blizzard have designed some really great raids and boss fights. The whole process of joining a guild and killing bosses with ten to twenty five other players feels really cool especially.
If you re doing it with a group of friends using voice comms. Unlike pvp. There s a much clearer path of progression associated with raiding and people often rhys absque ribe to the game. Just to clear the latest raids here before unsub again as a ready you also have a bunch of options in terms of choosing a difficulty that suits you there s the lfr mode.
Which is the easiest form of raiding. Where you ll be matched with random players and can clear everything in a few hours with very little challenge you ve got the normal and heroic modes. Where you ll need to find your own groups or gills to complete and then there s the mythic mode for the most hardcore players here you ll need to find a raiding guild and dedicate a few nights. A week to progression a big reason.
Many people love raiding and play well just to raid is that no matter what your experience or availability. There s a difficulty to see you i myself did a lot of raiding in wrath of the lich king and the start of warlords. I always enjoyed seeing a boss fight for the first time the reason. I ve stopped was because after killing a boss.
Once i don t have much interest in killing it again. But most people don t mind as it s something you ll need to do to progress your gear. Number one nostalgia. When describing your first experience with world of warcraft or the time you spent as a noob leveling up exploring the zones and playing with friends.
It s often something we look back on with fond memories. I myself remember downloading the game in secret because my parents wouldn t let me play it i made a trial account in the early hours of the morning whilst..
Everyone was sleeping and made a human mage. I was instantly filled with feelings of excitement. I d never had before of any other game. I remember looking at the map.
And seeing how huge the world was being overwhelmed by the simplest things such as players riding horses are really miss having that feeling and after hearing. Many stories from other players it appears as though i m not the only one whenever i ve quit the game and decided to research scribe. I ve done so because i thought about the time is spent as a new player and a part of me just wants to get that feeling back again after reece absque robing. I ll get the initial feeling of nostalgia and visiting gold shire and here in the elwynn forest music or making an undead.
Oh. But it s just not the same. I think a big reason. Many people come back to well time and time again is to try and relive.
The glory days to get the same feeling you got when raiding with your friends exploring a new zone for the first time or trying to fight man crick s wife. There s so many things and while there are a trigger for a nostalgia from music. Boss. Quotes.
And even youtube videos from the likes of oxhorn. The truth is though the glory days are over and while isn t the groundbreaking mmo as it used to be with so many other games competing in the genre for me. I think. The number one reason.
People love wow. Is because of all the good memories. They have of the game friends they ve made the places that have explored and the feeling of being part of something bigger than yourself world of warcraft isn t dead by all means. And there s still a lot of time to make new memories to look back on whatever happens.
Though. I m glad i ve got the chance to play the game. When i did and meet some awesome people for that world of warcraft will always have a special place in my heart. So that s it for this video guys next week.
