“Morning friends. I was not planning on making this video. I m sure my eyes eyes yeah. But as i m sitting here about to lock in the target.
I about it i like video. So um. I m actually starting at target today so i m about to go in for orientation. And i guess that sorry i m chewing gum.
If you hear me like slaloms that i just put a new piece of my mouth. That s a lot this is why you just pulled up next to me hold on. I m pretty sure she s here for orientation. Okay anyways um.
I m in talking about my orientation. Everything i ll also tell you how i got the job about the interview tiring process all that so um. I m getting ready to walk in right now. I ve been sitting here i got here early because i m a big baby and i didn t want to be late my first day.
So i got here like 30 minutes early so um. I ma walk in now and i see if i can get any type of recording done in there probably not because i m not trying to f up. My first date can you feel me so yeah. Wish me luck.
Oh. I just came in a so clutch for myself on my first day orientation. I like to bring like a notebook or something just well sock em tech notes. But also it looks good if you do that because that i mean you should do it honestly.
Because it s not their responsibility to give you paper and pencils and stuff. But i do it it makes you look good and it s um that s good tight notes on your first day you know you might have to write down passwords to get pay stubs where i have to write down your schedule you never know sorry if i m grossing you out with the gum but anyways i didn t think about that this morning. But i just looked down at my floor board. And i had that little notebook right there.
And i have this inside of it so look at me alright here. I go i m going it by i m back so that lasted a lot longer than i thought it would i m googled it which is how i find out all my information. I m trying to set the camera up i m sorry ugly angle. Here okay.
So um oh okay. So yeah. I googled. It and google told.
Me that the orientation was only going to be like two to three hours..
Off i went in at 10 am. Technically clocked out at 2 30. Yes. There s a hobby lobby behind me i went across the street.
Because i didn t want to be weird. I d just be sitting in the parking lot talking to my phone. Oh here we are sorry if my ac is loud. But it s hot as the devil s balls outside so not turning it off anyway so when i first went into orientation.
They had all of our group. Well. They told us to like me in the cafe. Like the target cafe.
So i sat there for about 10 minutes. And it was kind of talking to some other other people that were there for orientation. We had a really big group. I think we had 11 or 12 people.
And the the trainer lady who works in hr was telling us that it was a bigger group so maybe. That s why it s longer for me because they had to go through all of us. Individually. They did they were very organized the way they had it set up they had one hr lady going through orientation while they had the other hr lady doing like the behind the scenes putting all our info and taking copies of our ids.
All that fun stuff so yeah. We first went in we all sat down and like this classroom. It looks like a classroom. It was a classroom had a whiteboard this whatever i ll show y all.
Because i took a little video of it when we were on our 15 minute break. So that s what it looked like a little bit. Didn t want to be weird about it and like i d be like mmm. So this is what i got so this is what i get basically it was boring uh gotten the note yeah.
I was boring. It was just like basically just the stuff they have to tell you like harassment. What s the word dis. Don t discriminate discrimination harassment sexual harassment ethics.
They basically oh safety they went through all like the the boring stuff that they have to go through before you start all the stuff is like in your handbook. When you start a job. I m sorry i talk with my hands and my nails look so ugly. So so yeah.
We did that we watched videos listen to the ladies talk..
She was really sweet so it wasn t her fault that it was boring. It was just the stuff that we have to learn about it was boring so she was just reading like the handbook. So i was pretty much pointing out the important stuff they gave us a store tour. So we went and like learn where everything was where to clock in and out at where to put your stuff out when you go in where the back room is i like where they keep the merchandise.
That s not on the floor. The store manager came in i think they call it something else a target. But i don t really remember what it was but he s basically the store manager and he was really sweet. He he just kind of introduced himself to us and was like hey he popped in a couple of times to make sure we were doing we were doing good one thing.
We did do was like i don t remember what it was called. But we had to go walk around the store and do like a worksheet basically about it so that was fun we had to do it in groups. It was better than sitting there so it was cool that towards the end. We had to kind of read some stuff by ourselves.
She had like some packets pass them around we had to read them and we went one at a time to go fill out our stuff on the computer. Our i. 9. Form and w.
2s and stuff. So yeah. It was pretty basic. Oh.
We also went over the dress code. Which was you know wear red a red shirt and either jeans or khakis. No open toed shoes. The cool thing about them they don t care what color you dye your hair.
I don t care about piercings don t care about tattoos. Which is good for me. I don t have to wear no what s called no long sleeves forever21 okay. I worked there for like ever and for like ever.
But um out of all places that place makes you cover up your tattoos. I don t know if they do now because i haven t worked there since 2015. But i don t know why my phone just got dark um. But yeah they make you cover up your tattoos.
There and you think forever21 like there you re like up with the trends. So you think they wouldn t mind. But whatever um. I don t know i just thought that was weird so yeah they have a really cool dress code.
I m gonna be working as a style consultant..
Which is basically working in apparel. Which is what i wanted to do because. That s what i like to do on my schedule. Oh yeah.
I should show you let. Me. Give. Us.
A. Little folder. Oh cute. Oh here s my nametag you dropped.
It um. I don t want it again. I feel like people are gonna think i m some weird just there s a little handbook. It s the same as every handbook at every job tells you don t do dumb stuff basically here s my little schedule paper basically you have orientation for the big group of people and then they give you an individual schedule.
People. Walking this way. Like where is y all. Going to give you good juju schedule.
So i i didn t orientation today. I go back tomorrow 10 00 to 6 00. When today s monday wednesdays well noon to 5 30. Friday.
10 30. To 5 30. And saturday 1 00. To 6 00 a so those are my training hours.
And it looks like i m gonna be in boys clothes. And i love well if i didn t have kids i wouldn t care for kids clothes obviously. But i do have kids so it s exciting for me because i have kids so i care about the clothes. So yeah and then then week after that i only work three days.
But they are eight hour days. But that s what they told me that i mean it s a retail and the position. I got hired for it s kind of not like it s not not dedicated full time. If that makes sense like i can work full time hours.
But if they have a shortage of hours..
I ll be working part time hours. Which that s what i wanted to do because i do have my own online clothing store and kids. And you know i don t really want to work full time all the time. But i do want that opportunity to be there if i need the money it feel me so it works out good for me.
That s kind of what i wanted they also gave us papers on having activity was i bored ordinal this where we did like a little stores. Scavenger hunt things i don t know it was basically like a self guided tour oh the girl that parked by me this morning was inori as i turn so that was awkward not really shouldn t say anything. But it could have been awkward okay. I m gonna put this on i don t know what side of it lauren.
I was on this side. Just start to take a picture for my thumbnail. Oh. One other thing they told me since i m working in style.
Which it makes sense. But since i m working in style you can wear it technically i m in dress code. I knew with this big old t shirt. I think it s my boyfriend s t shirt.
But they want their people who work in style to obviously be stylish. So i need to step it up i wear a t shirt today because it s orientation and who cares but i m gonna i hate wearing red so i m gonna have to go and buy some cute red clothes. I don t like to wear red because my skin color. I m not white.
I m red and my hair is like it just clashes as a red tint to it it doesn t look good with the with the red and then my face. I have makeup on and you can still see the red. I think that s pretty much it like it was pretty laid back oh and they gave us a whole bunch of snacks. I had a whole table full of light like snacks like muffins doughnuts.
Fruit snacks and when all the bars trail mix and some water so that was nice to everybody that works there seems pretty. 9. 00. It s like everybody i walked past spoke to me.
It was like how are you doing good morning. Welcome to the team so we ll see how it goes um. I m gonna go now because my sister has my kids and he s gonna punch me if i take so long and it already took longer than i told her i would so um. I ll see you next time bye.
