Was an interesting time the world went into lockdown people panic buying toilet roll and and pasta. And there was a tv program of a woman who fed her husband tigers. You know what you did carol and all jokes aside.
It was a pretty big change and it was quite hard for many people as we were going into what we could only hope would be a few weeks of isolation. And no meeting up no go for drinks limited shopping and definitely no parties. But there was a light a shiny beacon on the horizon.
Something we had been waiting for waiting for eight years. The early access release of mountain blade 2 bundled. But was it all worth it did it live up to the expectations or was it just a rushed mess.
And where has it come since then the updates. The news and the future. What has been going on with mountain blade 2.
Bandlord. Six months later as many of you guys know i’m releasing my single plead with my band on the 25th of september and to do a little bit of promotion click the link in the description. And you can go and pre save.
The single and go and follow us on instagram and facebook. And those sort of things pre safe would be ideal.

Then you’ll get the chance of winning one of two 50 pound gift cards this can either be for steam or playstation store or xbox whatever you want i can sort that out for you so make sure you click the link in the description to join the giveaway and we are really proud of this so i’d really love it if you guys could go and check it out i think. It’s safe to say overall bangalore’s initial release was a success to put it into perspective before bannerlord all the other mountain blade games. Including the first and then warband and all its dlc sold got around 6 million copies to its customers.
This was a report by 2015 landlord now has reportedly sold almost 5 million on its own within. The first six months now of course. We don’t have any specific record numbers or exactly what they’ve been sold.
But i think from all the reports. I think it could be a very close estimate and i would say that’s a pretty successful launch and it shows for the first month or so banlord was in the top 10. Most played games on steam and at the time.
It was the biggest steam release of 2020 you see i knew it was hyped. But i didn’t realize that it would be that height streamers and youtubers from all around came to conquer carradia. Everyone had to get their hands on the sturgeon huskars or the velandian knights claim a wife and take cities for their own and it was an incredible time so it was plain sailing right well not quite.
You see the hype glasses started to wear off and issues. Started popping up left and right npc bugs. Optimization issues and crashes.
And so many crashes go into a hideout crash go into a city crash going into battle you sort of get the gist and it hurt it hurt bannerlord. Quite a lot bad reviews were being left on the steam store.

Because people didn’t have the experience they wanted and i admit i remember my first time playing through when i did that horrible 11 hour live stream. It was a pain crashing constantly and losing progress made me just want to leave the game entirely. But i didn’t and sure.
It wasn’t the best first experience. But it did start to level out. But unfortunately the damage had been done many people had just come to conclusion at this point.
That bannerlord was more of just a buggy. But prettier granted looking warband and whilst the game as a whole. I don’t think i can disagree more.
But it does definitely have a lot of similarities and you can tell it’s a sequel. But you see warband was one of the best received rpg sandbox games of all time standing at overwhelmingly positive reviews on steam and thrusting a relatively unknown company into being a big player that can contend with the top 10. Most played games on steam.
So why would tear wards want to completely change it what do people expect. There’s that old saying of don’t fix it if it ain’t broke and i think that was a sensible option. I mean of course you’ve got to add things you need to make sure that it’s even more polished with a lot of new features that players can get a similar.
But different experience from but the base game itself. Why would that need changing.

That’s just how mountain blade is you don’t see total war changing their base gameplay or battlefield or assassin’s creed or men of war or any other franchise. So why was there this stigma behind bannerlord that it should be a completely different game to its predecessor. It’s a sequel not a new ip and for a sequel.
It does what a sequel needs to do expansion. Adding in more in depth trading interactions with different npcs. The battles themselves creating a new scale and pushing the boundaries to what the industry.
Thought first and third person games could do i mean we saw up to 150 troops on the battlefield and warband and people were impressed by that bannerlords how about a thousand troops without any modding and if that isn’t expanding gameplay. I don’t know what it is just that simple move of making more troops on the battlefield creates. So many different things you’ve now got more orders that you have to do you have to do more tactics and strategy in terms to win the battles because you’ve got more guys to control you can even hand over the controls to sergeants and ai.
There needs to be more in depth and detailed economy because you need to upkeep these bigger armies you need more cities for the money and living room and recruiting. It all connects just to this simple addition of adding more troops on the battlefield. And that’s what batman does very very well despite.
All the bugs and issues tail wars released an early access game at the end of the day and they made it clear they weren’t even close to being finished. Yet with patch after patch fixing bug after bug. It was at the point.
Where almost every day. A new update would come out after the release and more things were being fixed.

More issues being eradicated and just a couple of weeks in or so. Terrors were ready to start releasing new content. Alongside every bug patch.
More features would be added better ways to deal with npcs. More missions extra commands for troops and the ways they respond to them we even have multiple new maps for skirmish modes in the multiplayer now and i i think. This is probably a good time to talk about battles multiplayer.
Which is something that i don’t like doing at the moment. Because i mean i made a dedicated video on this a while back. But nothing really seems to have changed all that much since then because bangladesh multiplayer is well dead.
It’s lackluster at best. But in all honesty. There’s no real point to it there’s very little structure.
There’s very little reward in actually playing it giving it very little meaning. And i think players work this out pretty soon on just a few months into the release. The servers dried up players stopped coming back just to do another siege or another skirmish battle.
No one is playing it anymore. You see warband had all these similar modes that bannerlord does so you may be thinking why did warbans multiplayer still last and why is it still active to this day.

Why do people play those same game modes on warband. But not bannerlord well i let you into a secret. They don’t siege team deathmatch all these generic game modes are also dead in warband.
But with a couple of exceptions. You see modded servers and private servers are the way forward the biggest servers in warband are mini siege in napoleonic wars or mountain. Cg native and things like ig battlegrounds.
These are all heavily modded or heavily controlled servers in some way with certain rules certain layouts custom maps always and active admins keeping things running smoothly. But with no private servers in battlelords. There isn’t any of this chance for these types of places to come about where people actually want to play they’ve just stuck with the very generic.
Very unrewarding servers and game modes that battlelord has to offer. We can’t do massive line battles or large scale organized sieges like in the predecessor. We can’t mod in hot air balloons to the native servers of the game and fly over the walls whilst being shot at and it’s killed it maybe it will all be worth it once the private servers do release.
But part of me kind of wishes that they’d not let the game out until private servers were a factor. Because you need to get the clans in straight away to take advantage of that massive wave of new players that bannerlord introduced because now when banalore gets private and modded servers. The only people that are still around to join these clans are the ones that would have done it anyway.
I think it’s a massive missed opportunity in the hell of a waste of potential for me. But on the bright side.

We are heading in the right direction tellwoods did release the clan update a few weeks back and adding in the opportunity and game to make clans. And join skirmish battles against other clans. Giving you a sort of already made private server for the duration of that battle.
But i haven’t really seen anyone use it and i don’t know anyone that’s actually gone through that process. Because it is a process way more than just. Joining a server with a password and having admins change.
The maps. Modes and factions on the fly. But that could soon all change you see recently.
We’ve had the privilege of being shown. What tail would have been working on behind the scenes at gamescom. We got a glimpse of the modding tours or at least the map editor wow.
What a surprise. I can’t believe they did this i i know i know we all suspected. It was coming it’s not really a surprise to us.
But it’s much more and much more in depth than i ever expected give that card in the top right a little tickle. If you want to go.

And. See my full breakdown of the map editor. But all in all it seems like we’re going to be able to flow with creative juices.
The juiciest of juices from painting on whole forests to making custom meshes for background effects. Even importing blueprints and changing down every tiny detail when crafting the perfect village town or city. Even the textures of each asset could be changed and imported.
If you have them customly made outside of bannerlord. The possibilities are endless i for one can’t wait to see the siege of hornberg back or minister. Even fighting in the trees at the battle of tootenburg forest recreating these historical events.
But what maps would you like most to see make sure you leave it in the comments and i’ll pass my favorite ones on to some map makers. I know but speaking of map makers. This is where it gets interesting you don’t even have to be one yet you don’t even need any knowledge on how to build scenes or terrain or buildings in mountain blade to be able to use this editor at some basic level.
It looks like they have lowered the barrier of entry from warband’s mess of an editor to almost nothing. So whether you’re a seasoned forger of the worlds or just someone that wants to dip their toes into the community of map makers banners editor gives you that opportunity but apart from map editor we haven’t had any more clues about exactly what all the modding tools will be but of course. We can probably make a good judgment on how they’re doing the scene creation.
Hopefully. It will be a similar thing with the map.

Editor. The modding tools will be more accessible and much more intuitive than anything that we got in warband along with this more and more hints at the replay mode. Which i need right now the mode that they keep hinting at but never giving us any gameplay where you’re able to go in save replays or battles you’ve already done and then create set camera angle shots and scenarios.
It will be perfect for movies or just cinematic shots with commentary over dubbed. Although after nvidia’s showcase of their machinima technology. Does this make it redundant maybe it does.
But mountain blade. 2. Bandlord has come a long way in the last six months.
It’s had its ups and it’s had its downs. But it’s time now to look into the future. Some exciting news that i heard is that tail wards are now in the stages of thinking about and working on the full release.
They predicted. It’d probably be around a year after the early access release. So maybe we’ve got another six months before that comes our way yet with modding tools coming very soon.
It was mentioned on the build up to bannerlord that modding tours would arrive close to the full release so could this be a clue that it may be sooner than we were first told or first thought by the way more content is being worked on and coming out in drought updates and fixes. Alongside so what do you want added in and are you like me are we all just waiting for full morning support and customer service. I think it’s safe to say the majority of us are make sure you stick around the channel for any more news and updates in the next coming weeks and months for bandlord because boy it’s gonna be a good one.
I’ve been invited to a lot of steam groups and discord pages with mods in the work from about 40 different ancient rome settings to lord of the rings and also the start of a napoleonic wars modification. So that could hopefully be with us in the not too distant future. The only time will tell what the future will hold for the game.
And hopefully. It will be even more prosperous than bannonlord has turned out to be six months later music you .
