Following along are instructions in the video below:
” s up dudes max here so the last 24 hours have been kind of interesting interesting especially for marvel vs. Capcom infinite fans that have been trying to keep up what the hell s been going on to the game because supposedly and according to what the creators of the game. There is not a lot we haven t heard anything in regards of developmental updates regarding the game updates patches anything like that since early january and it s been about five months. Now of which marvel vs capcom on twitter and on cap community and marvel games.
I ve gone essentially completely silent on the. Game but something pretty big happened earlier this morning at around 2 30 am. There was a patch that dropped from marvel infinite on the pc xbox and playstation. 4.
But to circumvent this there was a lead up going to what eventually happened with the patch being release. There were several sort of build updates. Happening on the scene version of marvel. Infinite.
Where the steam database was noting. The fact that people are working on the game in some fashion. And there are dev builds that are being updated. But they weren t being made public and eventually at 2 30.
This morning they were made public and we got a patch in the form of 10 gigabytes on the pc version in the form of 16 gigabytes on the xbox. One version and 421 meg s on the playstation. 4. That s a pretty big difference between all the versions of this game.
So i kind of wanted to run down exactly what the hell is going on because a lot of you guys have probably heard about this on twitter. And what essentially has happened. But there s a lot of stuff that i learned in regards to what could have happened. And what s gonna be happening from the future and sort of taking my own take in regards to everything with this game.
So let s just get started the first thing that got updated was the pc version the marvell infinite where we can clearly tell that denu ovo a nouveau do nuovo. It s anti piracy software has been removed from the game completely. De novo. Has always been kind of weird because it causes crazy problems in some games sometimes adding more input delay causing crashes and is largely hated by every single person that is included within the game they re playing it s just not a really good tool and most people are kind of upset with it and that was removed the nouveau is no longer appearing on marble just kept up an infinite steam page and appears to be removed from the steam version completely so this has resulted in some pretty interesting things the game boots like 10 times faster than it did before you start the program and it almost immediately goes.
Which is very different than i remember because i play the pc version a lot and the playstation 4 version and xbox version are getting rumors that the menu select or the character select screen is going a bit faster and load times appear to be decreased as well although in some situations. It might be a placebo effect a lot of people are reporting that load times. Do seem shorter. Now the interesting thing in regards to what everyone is asking is this a sign that marvel vs capcom infinite is not dead because my prediction about a month ago when we made the video is that i am fully under the belief that this game has kind of ceased development.
A long while back. And i ve kind of accepted that for a long time. And we kind of just play the game now for what it is because i really still love mvc. I in terms of gameplay and a couple of characters keep bringing me back to it.
And we absolutely have a blast doing that because the online actually runs good and it s weird to have that in a capcom fighting game. Those a few reasons for a person like me to kind of like marvel vs. Capcom infinite because outside of it s really rough roster and the fact that the game did not look good we can address some things on the pc version but largely the gameplay always kind of brings me back. But the big thing is that is this a sign that the reported season 2.
Is on the horizon. Is this a sign that the game is actually going to be getting updates and i talked to some people today especially. Some that might have some expertise in the situation of this anti piracy thing that might be involved in some games. And it gave me a little bit of clarity in regards to what s going on usually when you get anti piracy software.
It seats itself pretty deep into game code. Which was ultimately removed from the pc version earlier this morning. Now the crazy thing is that even though the console versions. Which largely don t need the same anti piracy measures.
While in most situations. Could actually be affected by the pc. Version apparently de novo can actually see its way into the console version of games. Although we have seen de novo removed on several games in the past and the console versions are largely unaffected.
There is a case by case situation and happened here i think is a situation where it was removed from the pc version and also technically was routed deeply into the code of marvel vs capcom infinite on the console versions even though you see something like 10 gigabytes and 16. Gigabytes. Your brain immediately rushes to new characters and stages updated roster. Oh my god they re gonna fix the graphics.
I don t think that s the case marvel vs capcom infinite runs on an engine called unreal engine 4 and a big issue with this engine is that if you want to update. It it has to update. These things called pack files. Which can get really big.
I m not an expert on this situation. But as it s been explained even if you change something in the smallest kilobyte like 5. Kilobyte removal of some line of code. If it s in a certain chunk of data that chunk can be two gigs and you actually have to update that entire two gigs in order to make it happen so if several chunks had to be updated.
Because they are removing some anti piracy thing that they might not need anymore. Then all of a sudden. You require a 10 gigabyte patch. You require a 16 gigabyte patch.
And for some reason. The playstation. 4. Version.
Only required like 421. Meg s which is still really weird the other thing that i also understood through many explanations is the fact that anti piracy software is expensive you have to renew the licenses for this thing. If not when you start a license. It might go for a certain period of time and then you get the option to renew it at that certain point of time and then you get a choice and i think that choice is ultimately what came to capcom and marvel.
Where they have this game that ultimately didn t meet their sales expectations at all and they now have to make a choice. Whether or not they want to keep their anti piracy software on it which costs money possibly a lot of money and they chose not to this is not confirmed officially by any means. But it seems to be the situation that marvel vs capcom infinite is removing its anti piracy software simply for the fact that they might not need it anymore. That further carrying over to the other aspects of the game between the playstation and the xbox version does still make sense because the code could be so deeply rooted where they have to remove it on the other ones because they re no longer using it does also make sense as well because i ve heard other accounts worth.
It s also a situation to all in oh. That s all we got from this patch. There was no official notes and the japanese website. Which actually listed an update for marvel vs.
Capcom infinite. Only said something along the lines of we made small system changes. But nothing was actually made to game balance. Which ultimately leads me to think that well what else is in there.
Did was there anything else in there and right now. It doesn t seem so the only other thing that popped up was that one person was able to find something different in the code from before that came down to character hit effects like hit sparks for the vanilla roster of the game getting a minor change but ultimately the in game stuff that s represented doesn t actually seem to have any difference. I would love to be wrong about marvel vs capcom infinite getting updates and to be really honest. I would love to be wrong about all this i would love the fact that marvel and capcom realized their mistakes that one of their top 10 selling franchises of all time could actually be fixed as long as they added the things that fans wanted so bad.
I would love to think that they re doing that but i do not think that s the case. I think this was a situation that kind of came up that they weren t expecting that they had to renew a license for something and all of a sudden that s gonna be really expensive do we do it or do we not do it. And they chose not to do it there could be something else in there. There could absolutely be hope that something else could be on the horizon.
But in my good old percentage rating that i ve given these marvel vs capcom infinite games in the past and i have been kind of wrong in the past. I didn t think mbc. I was going to be a thing at all when that game was announced back in 2016. I m gonna go back and kind of give this a 1 percent chance that marvel vs.
Capcom infinite. It s gonna get any future developer support in terms of content in terms of updates. In terms of an ultimate version in terms of anything. I still am under the firm belief that this game is done and i do truly i really hope i m wrong about that and i would largely temper your expectations for the future of this game and kind of play it for what it is because if something does happen that ll be absolutely amazing.
But don t expect it i think one of the best things we can actually do going forward. Especially with myself on this channel is sort of notify capcom and notify marvel. If not notify the future of capcom. The things that were actually great about barbara versus kept them infinite because it fix a lot of stuff from marble three well it seemed to miss the mark on some of the most important things there are aspects of marble infinite that absolutely should be preserved for the future of capcom fighting games.
And i think that s an interesting thing to make videos about and i kind of really want to explore that in the future as always dudes. Thank you a ton for watching i ll be back with more marvel vs. Capcom infinite gameplay videos as i still absolutely love playing this game. It s probably one of my favorite fighting games from capcom since capcom vs.
Snk. 2. I m still sticking by that i m still sticking by that i love playing this game. A ton especially online.
