Today, bluevelvetrestaurant.com would like to introduce to you How to scan A3 picture on an A4 printer. Following along are instructions in the video below:
“That from bonita doodles and i m going to be showing. You today how to to scan a three on an a4 printer. This can apply to an a2 as but i don t have an a2 on me to show you but i ll give you the basis of it. I m going to be using my epson xp.
4 2. 2. Which is an expression time and and it s just a all in one print out with the scanner on top. So i don t use any fancy equipment.
But it does have a very high scanning resolution so first top tip is to make sure that it s as clean as possible because it will pick up any dirt especially. If you scan watercolors and they re not completely dry. And get ready and turned on and it doesn t matter whether you use your left side or your right side. But you want to use one of these pick what one and that will be your guide to when you scan to make easier to stitch.
So i m going to first of all do the illustration because it s literally from top to bottom and side to side so the whole thing is full and i m quite lucky that this one is portrait..
So it s easier as you scan. Because it is literally a half full sheet so make sure it s in nice and tight and you are going to get this bridging here. But when you pop the lid down just try and make sure. Which it has done there that it doesn t move so get yourself in position.
You can just let it go and drop down straighter you have this the better. It is for stitching and i tend to just pop a little bit of a weight on top while we do the scanning. We are over to the macnell being the same on the pc to spend on the software you ve got so i ve got excellent scan is specific to my scanner. I always make sure i scan on 24 bit color and anywhere between 600 and 800.
Dpi. You don t really need to go any higher and to be honest printing is only done at 300 dpi. The only reason you d scan this high is to be able to do larger formats and as i say printer than you print at 300 dpi. So just ensure that you ve got preview come up first so you know exactly where you re going to be scanning you can see from this scan already where the shadow has been cast.
Where the paper is bridged over the side of the scanner..
So once you ve done the one side you can then go on to the other right we re back of the printer. Because we now want to turn our work round. And you essentially just repeat the process. Exactly what we ve just done.
Now. Where you have got a completely full image and we know that if you re in the uk our size is slightly different to the us. But in the uk half of an a3 is exactly a 4. What happens is is when you do the scanning shadowing here and that will happen no matter.
What you can t avoid that so what you do is you ve got to have a frame around your scanner. And you can either scan again in two sections. Going this way. Which is quite a long winded way of doing it because this is how you do an a2 and then you d have to turn and do it again and you d stitch the whole lot in photoshop which i will do on another tutorial video for you or you can very slightly tuck.
It up as close to the lid..
As you can and you ll come further up you re a three page. So you ll have three scans that you will then take in and bitch all together. But i ll show you that as a sound of different tutorial. So that is a call trace a3 and when you come to do an a for a to sorry you would again if you imagine a to then coming out further you were do it in quarters.
So you do one quarter. Then you flip it and then do the other quarter as if i don t have an eighty to show. But i ll work on getting that one done for you so i m going to show you now with the tiger that you ve all sinned. I would ground that one in and because we ve got a bit of a border around him the stitching is a lot easier because we haven t got to go edge to edge so again exactly the same as what we did previously we ll tuck it right up against whatever chosen side you have picked bring that lid down and try and ensure that he doesn t move and then we put a tiny bit of weight on top.
Then we come back up and again. We press preview. Just to ensure that it s where we want it and you can see quite clearly the shadowing that s happening along where we ve bridged it here. But because we have this border around you can actually get away with tucking as i said before this right edge right up against the bridge.
And so once you scan that in and you ve saved it you then come back down you turn it as i say because you ve got this i ve got this border of course here..
We can bring it right to the edge as long as we meet this edge here right or left it doesn t matter. Which one. But you have to meet that edge otherwise you re trying to stitch together two images that are not straight. And then you re having to in turn.
It s a whole other nightmare. So you can take that right up to the edge. And then you ll get that scanned in as well and the next video will be showing you how to stitch these in photoshop. So it s as easy as that sometimes if you re lucky enough you can actually detach the backs of these so you re not having to flop.
It all around you can actually just move it along your scanner as you go so hopefully. That s helpful. If you ve got any questions come and find me and i shall answer what i ” ..
