“To my custom xbox. This is the how to disassemble an xbox 360 controller episode. Episode. Most of the time.
We re going to do this to either mod. It put a quick fire in or to paint it do something kind of like this this is my call of duty one. We re about to get finished with therefore for me personally. So let s get right into it you re going to need a couple special tools ones a torx t8 driver.
If you would like a list of all these things i don t have time in the video to do it. But you can go to my custom. Xbox comm. There s a pdf there with a bunch of detailed directions and pictures of everything what you want to do is first you want to start off and remove the battery case.
Good. There s seven screws in here. I ve taken out six of them one of them is located underneath the serial number and if you want to do a good custom paint job. I always feel it s good to remove the serial.
Number you just take your exacto knife for bleep in style..
One here get right underneath it peel it off stick it off through the side. I always use a glass table that i work on so i can do my stickers on there also you ll find last hidden. Number seven screw in here use your torx t8 star tamper proof security driver undo this one there we go and that s out great so now we re going to actually pull this thing apart. You want to kind of grab onto this little piece right here and up on the top and just lift the back off.
I find it best to remove if you pull up and then just have those triggers come out with you you want to remember you re working with a circuit board. So you want to have something to be able to discharge your static with i use a little metal mulling over there and now we re pretty much into the guts this thing. We re going to take off the bottom piece here in a second there we go it usually comes off a little bit quicker with the base. There you can just jiggle.
It free have this alright. All the buttons are going to fall out. If you flip it over so i usually try to work with it like this i like to remove the board with the rumble packs dangling. Just like that go ahead set that down the controller looks like this in the inside.
I m going to hold this to flip it over so you still have all the buttons. You want to remember where the excuse me where the black part is because that s the part that will touch the circuit board. So you can just remove those set those aside. Now all the buttons will just fall out that s easy part there s two screws located in the d pad in order to get that out it s a philips head set screw.
There take those out real quick..
And then there s also two little notches like tabs if you can see those in there. Just use your screwdriver to push on it the d pad then releases. So you get the front of the d pad to come off set that aside bottom just drops out we have a top shell after we just pull this piece off this is the elbe and the rb buttons. If you want to take these off to paint them you just push up and i ll just put your two fingers on this and push out if you have an older controller.
This will be difficult i like to use needle nose pliers to pull that part off one of the things that most daring people take on is the sync button. It s actually like welded in here. There s a little piece in here that s welded and you probably can t see that very well in the camera. But you can take it out you can definitely do what i ve done lots of controllers.
You just have to know you re going to break it in order to take it out because of the weld and you can glue it back in torques just fine once you get it in let s go back to the circuit board. We have the two rumble packs you can work on it with the roma packs. But the wires are pretty flimsy. So i don t like do that i like to pull them out you just put a little bit pressured take your two fingernails.
Maybe. Some pliers just grab them pull them out. They come out pretty easy it might take a little back and forth jiggling. But they ll come out now for the tough part.
Everybody always wants to know how to paint their triggers..
You know i m doing this camouflage controller right here. And i wanted to kamel triggers. This is a little tough. But it s definitely doable you just have to know what to do and you follow these simple directions.
It s actually fairly easy so we have our two triggers. What we want to do is we want to apply pressure on this rod. Now. If you have an older controller like an original xbox 360.
Controller. This will be black or a dark gray. Same setup not big deal you know this whole apparatus instead of being white is great. But for the sake of this one this one s newer controller so you just push and you can see this thing pop right out and as soon as it pops.
This thing will drop down there we go and so now we have this i m going to do that on both sides here just pop and just push down on that rod and they ll fit in a place on the circuit board. Now that s the part. Everybody usually has a problem with a lot of people can get that off honestly. It s really easy you just have to know how to do it and the best way.
I found is to take two fingers you got to have a little bit of a fingernail and apply pressure on both of these sides here..
And i m hoping you can see that and then take your thumb and push up on this bottom piece. So when you do that i mean. It s absolutely super simple just pops right out the spring comes out just set that off the side and then just wiggle this over to the side. And it just comes right out it s very very simple to do a lot of people have a hard time with it and i don t know why exactly because if you just do this little technique don t have to push hard pops right out make sure you remove that spring.
You want to be careful. The springs go all over the room. If you don t hold on to them they re wound pretty tight take the trigger off unless you re doing some real serious modding. You re not going to need to remove the analog sticks.
And i recommend not doing that i ve never actually painted them i know this is rubber. I m sure the the base would paint up all right. But i ve never seen the need usually looks good any controller that i ve done that s it so now you have a completely broken out controller piece. And you can paint it up all you want i mean i ve got brown on the bottom of this one different color buttons up on top.
You do whatever you want and i m going to go over prepping and planning your paint job in the next video and once again. If you have any questions about the materials. You use or would like a step by step pdf just go to my custom xbox comm and it s all ” ..
