good cpu cooler for i7 7700k This is a topic that many people are looking for. bluevelvetrestaurant.com is a channel providing useful information about learning, life, digital marketing and online courses …. it will help you have an overview and solid multi-faceted knowledge . Today, bluevelvetrestaurant.com would like to introduce to you ARCTIC: Liquid Freezer 240 – Review + Install w/ Temperatures on an i7-7700k. Following along are instructions in the video below:
“Everyone its shaun and i m back with another review. It s been quite a a while since my last one so i m sorry about that it s just matter of finding time to do one of these and actually getting products to review regardless. The reviews are back and i m kicking off with a liquid cooler today. I ll be reviewing the 240 millimeter.
All in one liquid cooler from arctic cooling. They were super nice and some went over to me so i could review it so. Thank you to arctic cooling for that in this video. I ll be doing an unboxing and overview as you seen with the cases ever viewed.
But i m also going to show you how to install it as well as how the temperatures are after everything is in the pc. This will be towards the end of the video. So if you re interested in just that skip to the end to preface this. I m not running a 7700 k overclock to four point eight gigahertz and i have not deleted the cpu nor do i plan to but with all that out of the way let s get into the review as i said this will be the arctic cooling 240.
Which is a 240 millimeter. Aio. Liquid cooler. It also comes in a 360 millimeter.
And 120 millimeter form. If you are interested. So. Let s take a look at the box.
It comes in it s a pretty simple box. There isn t much on the sides. The front has an image of the cooler and the name of it on it while the back just has more info on the cooler itself. But we ll be going over this in the video.
Anyway taking a look at the insides of the box right on top will be the cooler itself. Which we ll take a look at first. It s wrapped in plastic. And also has the fans with it it comes with four fans for you to do a push pull configuration.
I ll go into the fans later in the video. But i will say that they are very high quality and are really quiet for what they are but anyway. Let s see what the other things are in the box overall. We ve got a manual that comes in two languages.
It also comes with two different brackets. One for intel one for amd and yes. It s for supers in as well and of course also the for fans that i mentioned so out of the packaging..
Here s the radiator itself. It looks really nice and sleek and the tubes are made out of rubber. So they aren t hard to work with at all also if you were wondering the pump uses a three pin connector to power it so from here. I will show how to install the cooler to start off.
I will be attaching the two fans at the bottom of the cooler. So don t have to do it later on i ll be using the radiator as intakes and so will be on the front of my case for the record. The case. I m using is the monster 2 se from raid max and i have a review.
If you want to check that out moving on the next thing. I ll be doing is attaching the bracket to the back of my motherboard. All you have to do is line up with the holes in the motherboard and i like to lay the motherboard back down after it s in place because it just makes it easier after this i m going to install the cpu because well you need one for this to work simply lift the pin and line up the arrow. And the cpu with the one on the motherboard then lock it back in place.
You will then attach the standoffs to lock the bracket that we put on the back of the motherboard in place. You can find these standoffs and one of the baggies that comes with the cooler itself next. I will be applying the thermal paste the cooler actually comes with a packet of mx4 thermal paste. Which is really useful however i m going to be using my own cooler master pace just because it makes apply and get easy before i do that i will first place.
Some other board into my case to make everything easier. And this is how it looks with the motherboard in the case. So here you can see that i am applying the paste you obviously don t want to overdo it i just put a pea sized amount the next step is attaching the pump onto the cpu so i ll first attach the retention bracket to the pump like so. All you do is simply a pressure and turn the bracket until you hear a click this means.
It s locked in place after it s locked in place. You can put them onto the standoffs and line them up with the holes on the retention bracket like i did here once the holes are lined up use the included thumb screws to lock the cooler in place. I attached these in a diagonal pattern to spread out the pace as evenly as possible after i got everything installed here s how the pc looks with the cooler installed. I couldn t show me attaching the radiator just because it was almost impossible to film that and screw everything in at the same time it was pretty straightforward though just find the place you want to put the radiator line up the two extra fans and screw them in overall.
I really like the sleek design of this cooler. I m really not into pcs that have full rgb everything and i like my pc looking simplistic with little to no lights this cooler complements that style really well i do want to add that as you can see the. Cooler doesn t quite fit on this. Case so it takes up the 525.
Inch bay on this case. In particular. There is a much room in the case that i chose to put this in so. It s all i could work with my one gripe at the schouler is that i really wish they would have allowed you to attach the cooler right side up.
So you could actually read the logo. Wherever. The instructions call for it to be upside down and as i mentioned earlier..
I do love how the tubing is rubber and not plastic it makes maneuvering it around the case really easy. But yeah this pretty much ends the physical review of the liquid cooler. So let s take a look at the in game benchmarks and stress tests. We re basically gonna see how hot the cpu gets with the cooler installed.
I m going to be trying a couple different games as well as stress testing in a 264. These are the settings that i ll be using for the test you can see that i also have stress fpu enabled this option in particular creates unrealistic temperatures that you would never see in game. However i ll test it anyway. But i will also be showing the stress test with stress fpu off as well i ll be running the test for 5 minutes.
So we can get a good idea of how well this cooler can do i also have core temp and cpu z open on the side for you to see all of the info. You need to see about the cpu. So here are the results for the stress test that includes stressing. The fpu as you can see we did reach him xo of 83 c.
On one of the cores and had a max of the high 70s on the rest. However it was definitely not stable at these temps as you can probably tell from the graph. It was more so steady in the mid 60 s to mid 70s. This is more than acceptable.
This changes. However when we take a look at the results for the stress test that was not stressing that pu the max. We saw for that was 71 c. On one of the cores while the rest remained below 70.
For this test. The temperatures were stable in the mid 50s to mid 60 s these are very good results. Considering the cpu is not deleted. So instead of stress tests that produce unrealistic temperatures let s take a look at actual games shall we i ll be testing three games that are mostly cpu intensive.
The first game will be battlefield. 1. The footage you re seeing right now was sped up. But it was a 5 minute gameplay on one of the more intensive maps and as you can see the temperature for the cpu was stable in the low 60s the cooler does a very good job of cooling.
The cpu even when it is being used a good amount on the map. Amiens. The cpu is usually at around 80 to 90 usage. Yet the cooler is able to keep it in the mid 60s i wanted to show footage of this map.
But there were no games that i could find at the time of recording that we re actually on the map. That s enough of battlefield. 1..
Though let s move on to the next game. The next game. I m testing is ghost recon wildlands. This game is pretty notorious for basically needing a high cpu to run smoothly such as the cpu.
I m using or any other high end risen that s out there as you could tell from the gameplay. The cpu usage is almost always above 50 and sometimes it goes into the 90s in terms of usage. However even with the extremely high usage. The temperatures still stay cool in the mid 50s to mid 60 s so far.
The cooler is proving to be a very good solution for the high temperatures that the 7700 k is known to produce when it isn t deleted with that game out of the way. Let s move on to the final game. The final game is going to be watchdogs. 2.
I believe that this game is even more notorious than wild lands to be very cpu intensive and really the only cpu to run as smoothly are the high end i7 and of course. The high end risen cpus this game is obviously poorly optimized. However. It serves as a good benchmark for temperatures.
Because as you can see the cpu usage is even higher than wildlands and it seems to be fluctuating between the 70s and 90s depending on where you are in the game. When you start heading into the cities that s when the cpus starts to spike into the. 90s. However again we can see that the temperature of the 7700.
Case still stays around the mid 50s and 60s. While remaining quiet thanks to the fans that arctic provides with the cooler overall. Though. I m incredibly happy with how well that this aio cooler works.
I was honestly expecting it to not do as well as it did since a lot of the videos that i ve seen on the 7700 k. Complain about the high temperatures. Even with liquid coolers a lot of the benchmarks that i ve seen seems to have the cpu going into the high 70s while gaming in my opinion. It would seem that for the 7700 k.
You re going to need at least. A 240 millimeter or 360. Millimetre liquid cooler to sufficiently cool. The thing.
This isn t a bad thing. Though as 240 millimeter liquid coolers are fairly cheap. Nowadays such as the one..
I m reviewing right now it goes for about 100. And this is a pretty normal price for these and it may even be one of the cheapest 240 millimeter. Ones out there if you re not into the flashy all in one coolers that are out nowadays then arctic cooler 240. Is most likely the perfect thing for you it doesn t have any rg b.
s and has a simplistic design before i end the video. I also wanted to just summarize. The pros and cons that i mentioned about the cooler. So for the positives on this cooler as i said.
It is not flashy. Which makes it a perfect candidate for simplistic builds. If you re doing one right. Now the second positive that i want to mention is that the tubes are made out of rubber.
Which means. It s easy to work with them and when you re installing it inside the case. It s a lot easier to maneuver the radiator around the third positive is that the fans that it comes with are quiet and work very well. I was obviously expecting needs to be super loud and not do anything in terms of cooling.
But i was clearly wrong the final positive is that it supports the newest architecture such as risen. So if you re working on a risen. Build currently this could be the perfect cooler for it so moving on to the negatives. There was really only one that i saw that deserve to be mentioned and it s a fact that in order to install the pump.
It has to be upside down making the logo unreadable obviously. It s kind of weird that they make you do this. But it overall isn t a big deal and you probably won t notice it in the end. If these positives intrigue.
You then i urge you to go out. And buy one because in my opinion. It s totally worth it i have a link in the description to amazon if you d like to purchase one. But anyway.
I hope to do more reviews like this in the future. Where i take you guys through the install and such there overall really fun to make and i love to edit them once again. I d like to give a huge thanks to arctic cooling for supplying me with the cooler free of charge for me to review. It and i hope you guys enjoyed.
The review and i ll see you in the next one ” ..
